I never want February to end. Mostly because of the Townie Taco Challenge, but also because it makes my weekly photo post that much easier to do.
This past Thursday I continued my quest for the best taco in town. My good buddy Greg and I ventured to Tavola on Water Street, downtown St. John’s to sample their offering. Let’s begin by saying we weren’t disappointed…
THE TACO: Smoked beef short rib, corn and black bean salsa, pickled shallots, avocado, and topped with cilantro sour cream.
THE VERDICT: There are only so many ways you can say “delicious”, so how about, “ohmygodimpossiblydelicious.” Again, I only remembered to take a picture to share with you after one of them was abruptly and violently placed in my belly. At first the short ribs tasted a little on the bland side, but after a couple of bites it was like the flavour compounded on itself and built to a symphony of tastiness as it mixed with the bean salsa, avocado, and sour cream. It only got better as I washed it all down with a $5 pint of India Pale Ale (emphasis on the “$5”). Besides that, Tavola was a really nice, quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown. I’ll be there again.

Well, that’s four out of the 15 places I’ve made it to. Hopefully I’ll make that five tomorrow before the Townie Taco Challenge (unfortunately) ends.
