Foto Friday – 16/10/15

Happy Friday, everyone. Welcome to another Foto Friday!

The Blarney House – Blarney, County Cork, Ireland

This week’s Foto Friday entry is of the Blarney House, which is right next to Blarney Castle. Built in 1874, it’s a massive, beautifully designed mansion which was erected as a replacement for a similar mansion built alongside Blarney Castle that burned down in 1820. It’s architecture is stunning to behold, and the surrounding gardens really complete the estate. You get a very particular feeling of grandeur walking up to and around the mansion. I wonder how much it would be to rent it out for a party? I have a feeling you’d have to take out a mortgage or two for a wild time in this spot.

If you’re in Ireland, chances are you’ll want to pay a visit to Blarney Castle and kiss the Blarney Stone to acquire the gift of gab (a charm that let’s you talk your way into or out of anything). I had no idea Blarney House was a thing until stumbled across it while walking through the gardens surrounding the castle. So, if you go there, have an eye! It’s quite a sight.

By the way, I heard just after I smeared my lips all over that Blarney Stone that there’s rumours of locals peeing on it for a laugh when there aren’t any tourists around… Needless to say I swigged some water immediately. I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but if you do kiss the stone maybe just give it a friendly peck!

Have a great weekend and I’ll be sure to have a beer for you.
